About Sukkha Interior Design

I’m Sarah Bronstein, an interior designer and licensed real estate broker based in Asheville, NC, serving clients nationwide. I design spaces that feel grounded, look elevated, and work hard, especially small homes, tiny spaces, and short-term rentals.

Design that supports real life (and real goals)

Sarah Bronstein, Asheville NC interior designer and real estate broker, founder of Sukkha Interior Design

Hi y’all! I’m Sarah. I believe your space should make your life easier to live, not harder to manage.

I founded Sukkha Interior Design in 2020 to help homeowners, short-term rental hosts, and investors create spaces that feel good and function beautifully. My work blends strategy + style, so you’re not just making a space prettier, you’re making it work.

After a decade in design (commercial, residential, and revenue-producing rentals), I found my niche in the “beautiful puzzle” projects: small spaces, tiny homes, and high-performing short-term rentals. When every inch counts, design stops being decoration and becomes a tool.

Yes, I live tiny too

During the pandemic, I fully renovated a 1973 Avion travel trailer (named Alanis) and made it my home. Living tiny taught me the truth: you don’t need more square footage, you need better decisions.

That experience shows up in my work through smarter layouts, storage that doesn’t scream “storage,” and finishes that hold up to real life (and real guests).

Interior design, backed by real estate perspective

Because I’m also a licensed real estate broker in Asheville and Western North Carolina, I bring a market-aware lens to every project, even when clients hire me remotely.

That means you get help making decisions like:

  • What upgrades actually increase value (and which are just pretty distractions)

  • How to design for your buyer, your guest, or your future self

  • How to align layout + finishes with your goals: comfort, resale, or rental ROI

The meaning of “Sukkha”

Sukkha comes from two roots that shape how I approach design:

  • Sukha (Sanskrit): happiness, ease, deep well-being

  • Sukkah: a simple shelter that honors the meaning of home and the fragility (and beauty) of everyday life

In other words: design that feels good to live in, not just good to look at.

My design philosophy

Life is too short to feel drained by your own space.

Whether you’re designing a primary home, a mountain getaway, or a short-term rental, you deserve a space that:

  • reflects your style

  • supports your routines

  • feels calm and intentional

  • works within your budget

  • and (if it’s a rental) performs visually and functionally for guests

My job is to bring clarity, simplify decisions, and create a result that feels like you, but better organized..
